Gulf Cooperation Council
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) was founded in May 1981 to facilitate cooperation in the economic and security fields.
- Comprises Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain
- Controls 40% of the world’s total proven oil reserves and 22% of the world’s proven gas reserves
- Population of 36 million
- Hydrocarbon revenue made up 86% of its budget and 77% of its export revenue in 2006
